Since 2023, the Wübben Stiftung Wissenschaft pursues the goal of strengthening Germany as an excellent, internationally visible, and competitive hub for science and research.
The Student Grants program supports students from a range of disciplines in the final phase of their studies who demonstrate a strong interest in the major research questions of their field and take unconventional approaches. Nominations for this program may be submitted by the spokespersons of the Clusters of Excellence at German universities. Each year, up to 55 students are awarded Student Grants.
In the current funding round, Lena Klar of Leibniz University Hannover was selected for funding and will receive a one-year scholarship starting in October 2025. She completed her bachelor’s thesis at the Institute for Solid State Physics in Michael Oestreich’s research group. She is currently conducting research in Silke Ospelkaus’s group at the Institute for Quantum Optics and plans to complete her master’s degree next year in the field of ultracold molecular physics.
