Anyone wishing to experience cutting-edge international research up close should mark Saturday, 4 July 2026, in red on their calendar. From 12:00 to 16:00, the GEO600 gravitational-wave detector, located south of Hanover, will open its doors to the general public. Visitors will gain exclusive insights into the current state and future of gravitational-wave astronomy and learn first-hand about the crucial role GEO600 plays as a global think tank for research.
No prior registration is required – you can simply drop by on the day. The venue is located in Ruthe near Sarstedt (south of Hanover) and is easily accessible by public transport, bicycle or car.
This is your very last chance to take a look behind the scenes! As the German-British detector will cease operations for good at the end of the year, this event also marks the project’s final open day. Seize the chance and listen to the universe with us!
