Zukunftstag, or „Girls‘ Day, Boys‘ Day“, is an annual day of action for school years 5 to 9 that provides orientation on careers, particularly in professions that are suitable for expanding the traditional, gender-specific spectrum of possible professions for girls and boys.

QuantumFrontiers has been involved in Zukunftstag for many years and offers pupils to spend a day at a research institution.

At TU Braunschweig this year, 35 girls and boys were given an insight into science at the limits of the measurable at LENA and the Nordcampus. Divided into small groups, they toured laboratories and exhibits, from model microscopes made from Lego to super high-resolution electron microscopes. Before heading to the canteen for lunch, the students were also able to try a very special appetiser: fruit gums frozen in liquid nitrogen.

At Leibniz Universität Hannover, 30 children visited the Einstein Elevator at HITec. Supported by the MasterClasses, the pupils themselves set up various experiments under micro gravity conditions. They recorded the experiments on video and then analysed them.
