QuantumFrontiers General Assembly May17th and 18th, 2021

The QuantumFrontiers members came together for two days to celebrate the work of 2020-2021, to get to know all TopicalGroups and to welcome the cluster’s International Advisory Board (IAB).

Nearly 280 QuantumFrontiers members met on May 17th and 18th, 2021 via a virtual conferencing platform for two days of community, science, and collaboration. Over the two days there were a variety of sessions. For example, the cluster welcomed the International Advisory Board (IAB) members, heard about 2020-2021 highlights from the QF Speakers, celebrated the QF member’s, who received awards in the past year, and learned about the new initiatives QVLS and the new Collaborative Research Centre TerraQ as well as advances in the support structures of the cluster. An overview of the 2-day schedule can be opened here.

In the afternoons on both days of the General Assembly, the QF members had the opportunity to get to know all the QF TopicalGroups via poster teaser presentations and poster sessions. The QF TopicalGroups, established in November 2020, presented current collaborative work with over 70 posters. The MeetAnyway virtual conference platform supported the QF members to discuss the topics of the TopicalGroups and the individual posters in large and small groups as needed. The QF members appreciated the freedom of visiting multiple posters, like at an in-person conference, and even networking in the “lobby” of the virtual conference platform. The TopicalGroups posters and the poster teaser presentations are found on the internal QF-Wiki

The annual general assembly is also the opportunity for the cluster to carry out official voting for new members and leadership positions of the cluster. All new members who joined QF since the last General Assembly and all TopicalGroups initiated in November 2020 were approved by the QF members.
