Success in DFGs Major Instrumentation Initiative "Quantum Communication Development Environment"

Quantum Communication between Leibniz University Hannover and PTB Braunschweig

The German Research Foundation (DFG) has approved several projects within the framework of the "Quantum Communication Development Environment (QCDE)" major instrumentation initiative for research into the application of quantum technology in quantum communication.

The new major instrumentation initiative is intended to be a first step towards the standardization of sources, transmission and detection in the field of quantum communication, so that communication protocols and possible applications can be researched on this basis. To this end, the DFG is funding projects at the universities of Hannover, Münster, Paderborn and the Technical University of Munich.

At Leibniz University Hannover, QuantumFrontiers member Prof. Dr. Fei Ding from the Institute of Solid State Physics is in charge, together with Prof. Dr. Ilja Gerhardt, Jun. Prof. Dr. Andreas Schell and Prof. Dr. Reinhard Werner. The funding will be used to create a connecting line with quantum communication between Leibniz University Hannover and the Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt in Braunschweig.
