ML4Q&A - new podcast is online with its first episode The Cluster of Excellence Matter and Light for Quantum Computing launched its podcast ML4Q&A with the first episode featuring Martino Calzavara, a PhD student in the group of Tommaso Calarco, director of the PGI-8 Institute for Quantum Control at the Forschungszentrum Jülich. The producers aim to use this podcast in order to feature as many different faces from the German quantum community as possible and they aspire to invite various representatives of the different stakeholder groups that are currently involved in shaping Germany's future of quantum science and technologies.
Quantum computing - made in Lower Saxony Quantum alliance QVLS provides insights into their quantum computer research laboratories. Within the next five years, Lower Saxony's first quantum computer with 50 qubits is to be launched. Last month, members of the initiative Quantum Valley Lower Saxony (QVLS) presented their strategy for achieving this goal.
In pursuit of the elusive: The particle experiment aimed at finding Majorana fermions For almost 100 years, Majorana fermions have been considered mathematically possible but experimentally invisible. However, there seem to be quasiparticles in superconductors that have the properties of Majorana fermions.
Research Highlights
Ultracold atom interferometry in space Research team publishes additional findings of the MAIUS-1 rocket mission to be used in fundamental physics, navigation and Earth observation in Nature Communications.
Artificial Intelligence for Nano- and Quantum Physics A research project at the Technische Universität Braunschweig is now bringing together expertise from applied physics and machine learning in the research field of metrology. Particle & AMO Physicists discussing Quantum Sensors and New Physics In the last decade or so quantum technologies have made tremendous progress, from redefining the second to establishing quantum supremacy. This unequalled ability to control quantum systems leads to a potential to make measurements with unprecedented accuracy. In order to maximize the impact of using quantum technology to probe fundamental interactions it is critical that each community improves its knowledge of the other discipline. We plan to bring in world experts in quantum technologies and particle physics in order to discuss how the recent progress in the precision front of quantum sensors could be used to search for new physics and study fundamental interactions. NEW DATE: 06-17 Dec 2021
